Springtime in Lake Tahoe can be unpredictable, but as wedding photographers, we thrive on embracing the unexpected. We planned to start the session in the forested area of South Lake Tahoe. When we arrived, dark clouds loomed overhead and a light drizzle gradually turned into a heavy downpour. Yet we knew this adventurous couple was ready to face any weather challenge and create beautiful memories amidst the enchanting backdrop of Lake Tahoe.
Shortly after 5 pm, just as the rain stopped, Andrea, Carlos and their adorable puppy Cali arrived. It was as if the rain had received a cue from a hidden conductor, promptly halting its downpour. The cloudy skies didn't dampen our spirits — instead, they added a touch of drama to the natural beauty surrounding us.
As photographers, we believe in capturing genuine emotions and helping our clients feel comfortable in front of the camera. We don't rely on rigid poses; instead, we provide gentle guidance and creative ideas to evoke a sense of romance while showcasing the breathtaking nature that Lake Tahoe has to offer. Even Cali, their furry companion, joined in the fun, following our cues as we wandered through this picturesque location.
Our adventure didn't end there. We whisked Andrea and Carlos away to Logan Shoals Vista Point, leaving Cali to enjoy a puppy nap in the car. As we ventured further along the shoreline, the views became even more awe-inspiring — perfectly aligned with this couple's love for nature and exploration. Surrounded by the sweeping panoramas of Lake Tahoe, we continued to capture their unique love story.
About Logan Shoals Vista Point
Logan Shoals Vista Point sits along the eastern shore of Lake Tahoe, just off Highway 28 between Incline Village and Sand Harbor. It's one of those spots that's easy to drive past and easy to underestimate — until you step out and take in the view. Clear water, rocky shoreline, towering pines and an unobstructed sightline across the lake make it one of our favorite locations for engagement sessions.
What makes it particularly well-suited for photos is the variety it offers within a short walk. You can move between the water's edge, open rocky outcroppings and shaded forested areas in minutes, which gives a session real range without requiring a long hike. The light in the late afternoon is exceptional here, especially in spring and fall when the crowds thin and the atmosphere carries that quiet, cinematic quality that makes for genuinely beautiful images.
Dogs are welcome on leash, which made it the right call for Andrea, Carlos and Cali. If you're planning to bring your pet, this is one of the more accommodating spots along the Tahoe shoreline.
For couples considering this location: plan for late afternoon. The golden hour light skims across the water and catches the granite beautifully. Spring sessions, even with unpredictable weather, often produce the most dramatic skies and the most saturated colors.
Some landscapes just demand to be seen from above — so we sent the drone up. From above, the image of Andrea and Carlos against the sprawling blue of the lake and the mountain ridgeline beyond told a different kind of story — one about where they were choosing to begin their life together. Aerial photography adds something that ground-level shooting simply can't: a sense of place, of just how grand and quiet and vast this landscape truly is. For couples who love the outdoors and want their photos to reflect that, drone coverage at a location like Logan Shoals is something we always recommend.
As we concluded our adventure-filled engagement session, we couldn't help but feel excitement for Andrea and Carlos's upcoming winter wedding. With the same enthusiasm and zest for life they brought to this shoot, we are confident their wedding day will be filled with joy, beauty and unforgettable moments.
At our core, we are not just photographers capturing moments; we are storytellers, weaving together love, nature, and adventure. Lake Tahoe, with its ever-changing weather and breathtaking scenery, provides the perfect canvas for us to create lasting memories. We are grateful for couples like Andrea and Carlos, who trust us to document their journey, and we eagerly await the opportunity to capture their love story as it unfolds.
