I'm Ruta Swanson, a wedding videographer based in Reno serving Lake Tahoe and Northern California. What draws me to wedding videography is the story — the way music, vows, speeches and ambient sound layer together into something that carries you through an entire day in minutes. A good wedding highlights video isn't just a record of events. It captures the environment, the mood, the small details that made the day feel the way it did. Every film I make is built from scratch around the couple: the music chosen to fit their story, their personalities and the feeling of the day. My husband Kris films alongside me, and I couldn't ask for a better collaborator. His day job is documentary and commercial filmmaking, aerial work for Disney included. Having worked together on many video projects over the years, we're intuitive with each other in a way that's hard to manufacture — we make a good team, and I think it shows in our work. Kris is also a licensed FAA drone pilot, so aerial coverage is built in. We've filmed at Edgewood Tahoe, Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe, Round Hill Pines, Chateau at Incline Village, The Elm Estate and The Club at Arrowcreek, among others.
