A GOOD START IS HALF THE BATTLE

At our studio, we believe that a headshot session should be a positive and enjoyable experience. We understand that some people may feel nervous or intimidated about it, but we are here to put those fears to rest. Our promise to you is to deliver a final result that truly showcases the true essence of your individuality. We want you to walk away with a headshot that you are proud of to display on LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram or even TikTok. It will take time and preparation, but we assure you that the results will be worth it!

Wardrobe plays an essential role in any kind of photo session, but it is extremely important when we are planning professional headshots. That's where we have to thoroughly think things through and choose clothes wisely for a polished, sharp look. When people think of a professional headshot fitted jackets and suits come to mind first, but business dress code has evolved over the years and has become more relaxed and casual. There is no right or wrong answers when it comes down to style, it is all about personal preference and business that you are in. To help you determine which direction you may want your wardrobe to take you, here are some questions to ask yourself:

What is the level of formality that my industry dictates?

How relatable do I wish to look?

What mood am I trying to evoke? Bright and cheerful, neutral or serious?

Is this how I look most of the days at my job?

Would someone in my industry choose what I chose to wear?

  • Have a few options for clothing and remember, layering is your best friend! This is the fastest way to change up the look with minimal effort. Cardigans, jackets and scarves work great for this.
  • Make sure your nails look neat. This may be a perfect time to pamper yourself and get a manicure. This applies to guys as well! Make sure your nails look neat.

WHAT TO WEAR for headshot sessions

  • Wear clothes that are comfortable and that make you feel good. Today's business world is quite more relaxed than it used to be, so do not overdress. Keep it simple and neat, yet professional.
  • Avoid sleeveless tops. For most people the uncovered armpit area looks unflattering. This is mostly for ladies. We haven't had a guy with sleveless shirt come in for headshots yet.
  • Make sure your jacket and shirt fit you well and are pressed. It is close to impossible to take out wrinkles in Photoshop.
  • Dresses are excellent options too, they look classy and elegant.
  • Avoid very tight, busy patterns and stripes. They don't look good on digital files. (gives a weird artifact called moirè)
  • It is best to wear neutral, calm colors. This brings attention to your face rather than your clothing.
  • Wear some jewelry, it is a nice touch and can bring some of your personality to your portrait.

WHAT TO BRING to your headshot session

  • Please bring your head, a comb (if you have hair), a good attitude and a friendly smile :)
